ABSTRACT
Construction sector have played an important role in development and sustainability of human civilization from ancient times to the present.Human existence need the construction industry for needing of the people to overcome.Several innovation occur at the construction site day by day.Civil engineers need to learn this innovation so summer practice is very important.
In site summer internship was useful for me and I have seen many works at … Group construction site.
Reinforcement concrete, formwork, isolation, insulation, ceramic cement screed and environmental design have seen in the construction site.

INTRODUCTION
Summer internship experience is very important for civil engineers because many applications are learned on construction site.During this site-summer internship, I have learned many new things about civil engineering, construction and the dialogue between the authorized people and the workers.
In this summer, I did my site-summer internship at …. Group … Residential Construction site at Ankara. This firm was established in 1988.They have many works in Ankara.Total construction area was 108.000 square meter.It has nine blocks, three villas, parking garage,outdoor pool, park,sport court ,tennis court and hiking areas.These blocks were planned to A1, A2 ,B1,B2,B3,B4 , C1 and C2,Also, these blocks were planned to be ten storey and forty houses.Each flat included four rooms, one living room and two bathrooms. Each villa included two storey and four houses.
I had a chance to observe different types of work in the construction area 30 days.I started my site-summer internship on 27 of June and I finished my site-summer internship on 30 of July.
2.1 FORMWORK
Formwork serves as the auxiliary element until concrete will be strength. Formwork help ensure that the necessary shape of the concrete as architectural and static.When making a formwork, woods may be horizontal or vertical condition and woods nail down to beams in certain intervals.Steel bars are nailed to beams in certain intervals.Formworks are supported with wood bars.
- Formwork must be clean.
- Formwork must not to leak something.
- Formwork must be oiled because to prevent sticking of the concrete.
- Also, steel blocks can be used. When the steel blocks use, the surface of the concrete will be smooth.

2.2 Reinforced Concrete
Reinforced concrete increases the strength of concrete using the steel material.Reinforced concrete elements which use beam, floor, column,shear walls,etc in the structure.Concrete is brittle material and steel is ductile material so this material consist composite materials.
The vibrator is a machine that is used to decreases the air-pores that are inside the concrete .It vibrates the concrete area.While the concrete is being poured, immediately vibration is applied.
Casting of concrete
Concrete mixer came in the construction area at 9 o’clock.Concrete mixer owned by Şahinler Concrete Company.Pump prepared for casting of conrete.Six workers worked in construction area.Concrete casted to shear walls with the help of pump and then, concrete was vibrated with the help of the convector for high quality concrete.Later, concrete areas was smoothed.Then membrane was covered for providing water and thermal insulation on the full side from soil to wall surface.

2.3 INSULATION
Roof Insulation
Insulation system have played an important role in construction sector.Insulation provides energy consumption.
PS 300 membran, thermal insulation board (XPS) ,polyster feltand 15x30 round aggregates were used respectively at ….Group construction site.
- Firstly,cement screed was poured on the reinforced concrete.
- Cement screed areas were smoothed by workers
- Then slope was identified as %2 for providing water flow.
- Membran (PS300) was used for water insulation and thermal insulation (XPS) was used.
- Also,polysterfelt was covered on these material.
- Finally,15x30 aggregateswas poured on polyster felt.
- Aggregates was chosen round because for not tearing of felt
- And also slaty membran was used other blocks.
Steel Chimneys
Heat-resistant insulation material was used on steel chimneys.This material was stone wool.Also, galvanized steel sheet was used.Stone wool thickness 5 cm and galvanized steel sheet was 0.5 mm.

Insulation of Tennis Court
Sliding insulation applied for facade of tennis court.Insulation material is TP 300.This material applied by spraying and it dried a very short time. Wear resistance is good in this material. Insulation was applied for tennis court because to not be water leak and good resistance against UV radiation.

2.4 Exterior Thermal Sheating
Exterior thermal sheating is a important application because this application use to provide energy savings and increase the life of buildings.Moreover,exterior thermal sheating protects the corosion and external factors.Exterior thermal sheating used some other parts which are ceiling, slab, roofs, , walls of buildings and ventilation duct spaces.
Processing of exterior thermal sheating
In the construction site
- The exterior walls were made from bims and inner walls were made from bricks ,
- and then cement plaster,
- cement based adhesive ,
- thermal insulation board(EPS),
- plaster for facade,
- plaster mesh,
- again plaster for facade,
- primer,
- silicon based
- and textured wall paint were applied respectively on bims.

2.5 Cement Screed
Before cement screed is applied, electricity, water and central heating parts were installed on the base.First of all, cement screed area must be cleaned.Elevation has be determined and elevation marked the edges of the Wall.Then cement screed have been obtained from mixing of fine sand, water and cement.These mixture have poured on the floor to make it smooth surface.Cement screed area was smoothed.

2.6 CERAMIC
Before starting with furnishing ceramic,cement screed was carried out.Ceramic furnishing was applied on the Wall and floor.
Before ceramic furnishing was started, the places that were not level were rendered flat.Ceramic furnishing area was completely cleaned and moistened by water. Moistening process was applied in order to increase adherence rate of ceramics. Then while furnishing was done on the floor the smoothest and longest part of the Wall or floor was found and then ceramics were furnished. Also, 0.5 cm of this space was left in order to place joint exces.

2.7 ENVIRONMENTAL DESIGN
Firstly, we measured difference in elevation for making outdoor parking garage.Road was reduced 10 centimeter by 955 excavator.Then road was smoothed by roller.Road was poured to gravel and stone 15 centimeter thick and this process provides insulation and then road was smoothed again by roller.
Also, In … group construction site was made environmental design.Construction area was smoothed for garden.Road was reduced 10 centimeter below the entrance of the garage and then concrete casted in this area.

CONCLUSION
I think that it was a very beneficial experience for me to learn many new things about formwork, reinforced concrete, exterior thermal sheating, insulation systems ,cement screed, ceramic and environmental design.
Also ,I learnt that
- Responsibilities of a civil engineer and a civil engineer must use his intelligence practically.
- It’s one of the most important thing that I learnt is the dialogue between the authorized people and the worker
- Team work
- Business discipline
- The response of knowlegdes that we learnt in universities in real life.
Shortly, I think that it was a very beneficial experince for me to learn somethings about my profession life.
